TK Land Review by oblivious_casualty
Ah, TK Land, a very anticipated demo. Unfortunately it's only a graphics demo, so I'll modify this review accordingly.
Graphics:
The heart and soul of TK Land. Indy's graphics are absolutely stunning, and release an aura of professionalism from the game. The sprites for the community members provide an accurate depiction of each member's personality, in most cases. The profile pictures, for the members that had them, were very detailed, and added to the professional feel of the game. There is even an 'no profile' profile for characters without profiles yet. All of the graphics complement each other extremely well. 10/10
Sound:
Although it was only a graphics demo, there should have been more sound. The only sounds I heard in the game were sound effects, such as opening doors. These sound effects, however, were very good. 4/10
Story:
As there was no story in the graphics demo, this section will not be reviewed.
Gameplay:
As there were no battles or the like in the graphics demo, this section will not be reviewed.
Programming:
There wasn't a lot of programming to show, since there were no battles. The programming that was shown, however, was superb. The menu system, coded in Visual Basic, is the greatest menu system I have ever seen in a TK game, although many parts of it were disabled. The dialogues with characters were nice, too. There was only one moving character, though. 7/10
Length:
There wasn't much to the demo, since all you do is walk around and talk to people and see the sights. However, there is enough to see and do that you don't feel ripped off by the sligthly large download filesize (8.37MB). I would have liked to have been able to do more, though. 5/10
Completeness:
The game feels exceptionally complete, with stellar graphics and an awesome menu system. However, there were 'under construction' signs abound, limiting where you could move. This makes it seem as if the demo was rushed before it was ready to be released. The 'no profile' profile adds to this incomplete feel. 7/10
Flawlessness:
The first time I played through the demo, Spyder disappeared when I walked downstairs, and the menu background disappeared when I opened it. I was left with a pointer, without knowing which command was which. After I restarted the demo, however, this problem vanished. I could only find one grammatical/spelling error. 8/10
Replay Value:
Even though this demo is very short, I felt compelled to play it again and again and again. The thought of having a game with all of the community members that I know was great. I've already played through the demo 3 times. 10/10
Overall Fun:
This game is freakin' sweet! It's so fun just to walk around the game and talk to people. There just always seemed to be more to explore. The Talona and Bounty easter eggs were a nice addition too.The dialogues for the characters are very casual and interesting, and more often than not, very funny. 10/10
I'm looking forward to exploring more of this game in the next release, and the hype proves that everyone else is just as excited.
